If you’re like me, your plot of land in FarmVille is probably just a couple of items away from being completely full. What with all of the new decorations released on a weekly or even daily basis, new animals, new buildings, trees and so on, not to mention the room that must be set aside for growing crops in the first place – it’s a delicate balance between cramped, yet sophisticated and becoming totally out-of-hand.
Luckily for all of us, Zynga has addressed this issue, tilting the balance more in our favor, by doubling the item storage limit in the game from 100 items to 200 items. The details surrounding just how to receive your doubled storage are a bit shady, but as of right now it seems that the only way to receive your new expanded storage is to actually purchase more storage buildings, rather than doing any further item expansions on level 3 storage buildings (further expansions simply aren’t available to initiate).
For the sake of argument, for those users who have done nothing other than purchase and completely expand one Tool Shed and one traditional Barn, you’ll still see yourself stuck at the storage limit of 32 items. By purchasing another storage building, your limit will rise. Now, if you bought another Tool Shed, which holds two items, your storage capacity would raise to 34 items. This new Tool Shed can be expanded through the same barn raising process that we’ve grown accustomed to (ask ten of your neighbors to click on a news item on your wall), giving you even more storage capacity (the first Tool Shed expansion raises it from a 2 to 7 item limit).
Unless Zynga decides to change the storage capacity on these individual farms, rather than requiring users to purchase multiple storage buildings until they reach the new 200 item limit, we’re all going to have to accept having more than our fair share of storage buildings scattered throughout our land.
This is an evolving situation, and with the confusion that has already spread rapidly throughout the game’s official forums, it’s likely that Zynga will address the situation in more detail, other than simply announcing the item storage expansion. We’ll be sure to let you know of any additional details as soon as we have them.
