Every day, TriplePoint client AppGratis locates an app that they think ought to be free for a day. We download and take a look for ourselves to let you know what awaits you – why not? It’s free.
Appearances can be deceiving. Today’s AppGratis-ed game, Wordox, looks an awful lot like another place-letter-tiles-on-a-grid game we all know. It plays, however, very, very differently. For starters, different letters do not have different point values. There’s also the fact that you and your online opponent are drawing from the same rack of tiles. Wrap your head around that for a second.
Where other word games tend to be about who can spell the most complicated word with the least-popular letters, Wordox is a game about controlling the board. Tiles you place are flagged with your color — but they can be swapped to the other player if they involve your tiles in a new word, meaning you’ve got to be careful about playing words that can turn into other words. First player to get 25 tiles down is the winner, so if you play “WORDS” for 5 points, a single “S” turns that 0-5 score into a 6-0 “SWORDS.”
You can start Wordoxing for free by checking AppGratis today.
