Arcade, Casual, Frisky Misc, iPhone, Mobile, Social

Every day, TriplePoint client AppGratis locates an app that they think ought to be free for a day. We download and take a look for ourselves to let you know what awaits you – why not? It’s free.

Since the dawn of time, arcade-goers have known this simple truth: when the Skee-Ball machines are set to free play, it is a good day to be alive. That special occasion has happened today, all around the world, courtesy of our friends at AppGratis, who have made Skee-Ball 2 free to download today, forever giving us access to a never-ending supply of tickets, chintzy prizes, and online bragging rights.

The gameplay of Skee-Ball 2 works just exactly like you’d expect, at its most basic: flick your finger down the touch-screen lane to roll a ball, with your aim and speed determining your accuracy. After that, though, you can actually tilt your phone to put some mid-roll (or mid-air!) spin on the shot, allowing you to nail that 50 or 100 cup with a tricky curveball. You get 9 shots to rack up points, at which point you are rewarded with tickets — and, yes, there is actually an in-game redemption counter where you can collect action figures, day-glo sunglasses, and other ridiculous arcade knickknacks.

There’s also an online mode where you can go best-of-3 rounds with the other virtual denizens of the worldwide fun center, complete with instant replays so you can watch them cheating. How are you people so good at this?

Skee-Ball 2 is free today via AppGratis, so let’s roll.
