Every day, TriplePoint client AppGratis hand-picks an app that they think you ought to have. They feel strongly enough about the app to make it free for a day. We download and check out what’s on offer — because it’s free.
By now, your grams are almost certainly instant, and if they’re not, there are plenty of photo apps out there to dress up your pictures in the filter of your choice. Today, though, AppGratis has an app that’s a bit different: InstaPlace uses your phone’s GPS to geo-tag your photos in dozens of different ways, allowing you to turn your shots into creative postcard-like shareables. Behold:
Making the above postcard was as simple as picking from a gallery of captions, tapping the locator button, and taking a photo, and voila — I can convey that I wish you were in the middle of the train tracks. InstaPlace actually populates both your city and street location with a single tap, but if you prefer, some captions will simply include the city, while at least one actually includes a map with a pin on it. Or, thanks to a clever bit of foursquare integration, you can caption your photos with actual businesses or locations:
The captions include cute setups for travel themes, emoticons (I <3 CITY NAME, etc), and even food-related captions for all your mealtime photography:
They… don’t necessarily all work for every photo. Still, this is a surprisingly versatile app, for such a simple-seeming function. Plus it’s free today, so snap it up!
