LollarBills, my lovable PetVille creature has kept me busy this weekend – washing, feeding, playing, decorating, pet-sitting for friends, and repeating. Sounds like a lot of work, but as is usually the case in social gaming, I loved every minute of it.
PetVille, Zynga’s latest Facebook game, is slowly making its way into the hearts of pet lovers and social gamers around the Web. After creating, naming and customizing a wild creature all your own, players are tasked with keeping pets clean, well-fed, healthy and happy. You can buy a slew of items to decorate your pet’s pad, including furniture, home decor, housewares and knick-knacks of all variety. You can also, of course, buy new clothes and groom-styles for your pet.
Earn your keep
Achieving goals and leveling up will unlock new items for purchase, and from the looks of it, new rooms to decorate and show off to friends. LollarBills isn’t there yet, but we’re working on it.
A little help from my friends
Once you’ve taken care of your pet’s needs, players can visit their friends to play games like gossip, high-five, dance and kiss, as well as clean up after friends’ dirty pets to earn extra coins.
Cleanliness is godliness
Whether cleaning up after your own creature or your friends’, PetVille players can earn a “Good Housekeeping” bonus for removing all 5 trash items that accumulate on-screen.
Time is money
As with withering crops in FarmVille, if you forget to check on your pet after feeding time is over there are consequences. If your pet goes hungry, you might come home to an empty apartment (and have to pay big bucks to bail your pet out of the pen). But if make it home in time to refill Fluffy’s bowl, players can earn a “Kibble Time” bonus that includes, you guessed it, extra coins.
