We Rule: The iPhone’s Farmville?

iPhone, Mobile, Social

Inside Social Games has the story on a very popular iPhone game from Ngmoco known as We Rule. In We Rule, the objective and mechanics are very similar to popular Facebook games such as Farmville or Cafe World.

The story and interesting thing about We Rule is its popularity. In just five days, the app has soared to 15th place on the free section of the app store which is not an easy spot to get to. Even more astounding is that on the seventh day of release it hit fourth place. Pretty amazing for something that is not a corny puzzle game.

Ngmoco’s Vice President of social applications, Justin Oberfest stated that We Rule now serves over two million game sessions per day and that a majority of those sessions come from repeat players. I smell a pool of addiction and We Rule is quickly swimming to the deep end.

If We Rule can keep up its rapid pace, it will certainly eventually rival Zynga’s Farmville which has well over 80 million players on any given month. The iPhone needs a good, fun game that keeps people coming back and We Rule may be the answer for that. What do you think?
