Wal-Mart Slashes iPhone 3GS Price to $97

iPhone, Mobile

If there wasn’t already enough fuel to the fire regarding Apple’s expected announcement of the new iPhone next month, here’s a little bit more for it. Walmart today has lowered the price of the iPhone 3GS down to just $97, in contrast to its previous price-point of $200.

While this price-drop does not directly confirm a new iPhone is coming, it’s certainly a sign that leads speculation to that direction. Many consumers are holding off on purchasing the current iPhone 3GS while they wait for the new model to be released next month. This move looks to grab those consumers who are looking for an extra incentive to continue buying the iPhone until next month.

Rumor also has it that the iPhone 3GS will permanently replace the iPhone 3G and stay at around the $100 price point even after the fourth generation iPhone is released.
