According to a report filed by video game track Edge, Richard Branson and his company Virgin plan on making a big splash at next month’s E3.

The company is rumored to be creating an online-only video game service that will offer “new and unique opportunities” to game publishers.

The rumor:

Described by MCV as “ambitious and global”, the new venture is expected to target the leading console formats, possibly with the help of newly acquired technology. If the report is accurate, a major announcement will be made at this year’s E3 in June, delivered by Branson himself.

While the details are hopelessly vague, new entrants to the video game market are never unwelcome. You never know when the next big thing will be around the corner.
