Some people celebrate milestones with a splashy announcement or a party, but not TriplePoint client Appxplore. No, they’ve decided that the proper way to mark two million downloads for puzzle-app Sporos is to unleash a torrent of spores and aliens upon us all — presumably because now that they’ve achieved their success, there’s nothing more this world can offer us. Okay, obviously Appxplore is not actually celebrating with a global extinction event; the spores and aliens of Sporos and Alien Hive are actually fairly benevolent. They are, however, giving the world a chance to experience both titles for free, and in new ways: Sporos is now a free download for a limited time, and Alien Hive has gotten an all-new game mode as a free update today.
To remind you of the nature of these non-lethal onslaughts, Sporos is a puzzler with “intuitive touch-and-drag controls, vibrant graphics and a minimalist soundtrack” about lighting up cells, while Alien Hive is a game “blending match-3 with sliding tile puzzles” about hatching extraterrestrials. As alluded to recently, they now both have new game modes, and right now they’re both free.
