Yesterday, TriplePoint client himojo released an open invitation for interested trivia buffs to join them in their new game The Big Bluff. Available to play on either TheBigBluff.com, or via the platform’s Facebook application, The Big Bluff is a free to play trivia title that incorporates aspects from another game – Texas Hold ‘Em Poker.
Like a game of Texas Hold ‘Em, each table is comprised of five players, each with their own supply of virtual betting chips. A dealer presents three cars in the community hand – one card represents the trivia question’s category, while the other two provide clues as to the question’s answer. The fourth card, when played, displays a third hint, and when the fifth card is played, you will finally be asked the trivia question itself.
The interesting thing here is that since you’re not given the question until the final community card is played, you’ll be challenged with seeing if you can figure out the final question and answer by just the hints that are given along the way. Your chips come into play after each card is played, when you’ll “bet” to continue playing in the hand; conversely, if you’re confused, or doubt you’ll figure out the answer in time, you can fold at any point.
Likewise, if you make it to the end, you can call your opponents’ bluff to see if they really know the answer, even if you yourself have been bluffing as well (that is, acting as though you know the answer to the question when you really don’t).
In keeping with traditional social gaming tendencies, you can create an avatar, and use your winnings to purchase new clothing and accessories for them. You’ll also be able to track your progress on the global leaderboard.
