The news that Pocket God is the first paid iPhone app to reach 2 million downloads is certainly nothing to scoff at. If anything, it’s a little surprising — one would expect that milestone to go to an established gaming classic, a ubiquitous title like Pac-Man or Tetris. Well, you needn’t feel bad for Tetris: According to Blue Planet Software and EA Mobile, Tetris has been paid for and downloaded over 100 million times across all mobile platforms since 2005.
This isn’t a massive surprise, of course; it’s probably easier to compile a list of the platforms which haven’t carried Tetris at some point. I had a graphing calculator in high school that someone had programmed Tetris onto, for heaven’s sake. Granted, I didn’t pay for that download, which I feel just awful about. Without me, that number could have been 100,000,001.
You can help correct my mistake by picking up Tetris for your iPhone, for $4.99, right here: ![]()
