Temple Run 2, much like its predecessor, is a game nobody can ever win. You run and you run, and perhaps you cover a long distance and feel pretty good about it, but ultimately you fling yourself off a cliff or into the murderous arms of a hell-monkey. It’s a game about losing. As such, when TriplePoint client Imangi delivers an update to the game — as they did this morning — they make sure to add in new ways for you to lose.
Today’s updates seem to be themed around staying on the straight and narrow, like a proper adventurer. That is to say, tilting will now get you killed in a few situations: the update adds whirling blades into the mix that line the path to the left and to the right, meaning you’ve got to stay in the middle of the path to thread that deadly needle. There’s also a new segment of scenery called “The Narrows,” which, you guessed it, is not very wide at all. It’s a series of suspended planks on stilts, and you can tilt here if you would like to die.
Idol-snatching just isn’t a safe field anymore. I think I would do better at OSHA Run.
