iPhone, Mobile

Street Fighter IV dazzled many last year with its Arcade and Console releases with a wide variety of combos, special moves and cast of characters. SFIV has a very large fanbase and I’m sure a few of you had been wondering “When can I take my Shoryukens with me?” Capcom now has the answer with Street Fighter IV for the iPhone.

This new fighting treat may come as a surprise to some but there have been other big console titles come to the iPhone before (Rock Band) so I wouldn’t say it was ever out of the picture. Of course, my biggest question is then, does it manage to work well on the iPhone?

The answer in regards to gameplay appears to work well enough. The touch screen is obviously not going to be as accurate as an arcade joystick and requires a good bit of getting used to. The game also supports local play with other iPhone users and has a nice variety of modes including the new Dojo mode.

Dojo mode is essentially just a practice and challenge mode which challenges you to become more versatile and learn better moves. So if you’ve got the $10 entry point and an itchy trigger finger for fighting games wherever you are, SFIV for the iPhone will probably work for you.

I think I enjoy Street Fighter enough to appreciate this on the iPhone. Hmmmm…
