Hey, remember last weekend when we showed you how Steam for Mac is going to look and function when it eventually arrives. Well, today I am glad to share that the full version of Steam for Mac is not to far off as Valve has announced that the Mac client will arrive on Wednesday, May 12th.

As previously reported, Valve reported that Steam for Mac will feature “Steam Play” that promises to allow you to use previously purchased PC games on your Mac without repurchasing them (provided that they have a Mac version available). The service will also have a “one save” cloud feature that stores your save files in the cloud allowing you to resume play on your game no matter what computer you sign in on.

The Mac client of Steam has been in beta for a few weeks and a few lucky people have been able to check out Portal in that beta. Reports from those who’ve used it said the different is transparent when comparing performance and quality compared to the Windows counterpart.

The parts I am most looking for are a specific Mac store and the ability to join friends who are on Windows seamlessly. We will have to see on May 12th to see if these features work out as planned.
