As reported over on Mashable, Sony’s PS3 exclusive reality show The Tester is scheduled to debut on the PlayStation Network as a free download starting Thursday, February 18.

The show follows in the footsteps of actress Felicia Day’s the Guild as a “straight-to-game-console” program, with the Tester following a group of 11 gamers who hope to earn a job as a video game tester at SCEA’s San Diego offices. Not only will the show’s winner land the tester’s position, but they will also be rewarded with a $5000 sign-on bonus.

As you might expect from a competition-based reality show, each of the Tester’s eight episodes will see the contestants participate in real-life challenges that are in some way related to the skills necessary to be a video game tester.

Additional shows will become available to download every Thursday after the show’s debut.
