Facebook, Social

NFL Canada Social Games is a website that might not be familiar to most Americans (or even non-American Football watching Canadians), but the site is open to all, and offers a handful of social mini-games, that are tied to Facebook, as incentive to surf through their space.

According to Inside Social Games, Canadian visitors to the website can have a chance to win a Nissan Pathfinder for participating in the site’s activities, but for everyone else, the social aspects will have to be their own draw.

Two of the portals games, NFL Live and NFL Confidence Pool Playoffs Edition, are relatively similar and focus on player predictions over what will happen in a game. NFL Confidence plays more as a pre-emptive strike, asking you questions like “Which team will register more passing yards in the game?” while NFL Live does as its name suggests, and updates in real time, offering up-to-the-minute prediction opportunities concerning what the very next play will be and so on. Both games are played with other Facebook users (everyone signs in via Facebook Connect), and you can chat with other users as you make your predictions.

The site’s other two games are less about in-depth analysis and much more about casual gaming. Quiznos Trivia and NFL Concentration are your basic takes on NFL trivia and a memory matching game (using team logos), respectively.

The Facebook integration goes one step further than Facebook Connect, as users will be able to publish their game results on their News Feed, and view leaderboards to see where they stack up amongst the competition.

Unfortunately, since the American Football season has recently ended, the site looks to stay quiet for some time, but for those that simply can’t get enough of the pigskin, even during the off-season, you might find this to be a good place to spend some time.
