Console

Piracy jokes aside, Sid Meier’s Pirates is on its way to Nintendo’s Wii. Sid Meier’s Pirates dates back to the PC gaming days of 1987 and then in 2004 with an updated versions for the PC as well as consoles.

According to Kotaku, the franchise is returning to the Wii from 2K China who will be developing the title. Apparently, players will be participating in ship combat, fencing and wooing. The game will take place in the mid-17th century as you fight against the evil Marquis de le Montalban. There will be mini-games to hone your pirating skills as well.

Sid Meier himself had this to say about the upcoming title: “We are big fans of the Wii and think Pirates! is the perfect game to bring to that platform, we’re sure Wii fans will enjoy the timeless adventure of being a pirate captain on the high seas as much as all of our other fans have!”

A release date for the new Wii version is unknown but I would wager Fall-Winter of this year isn’t a bad guess.
