The social world is buzzing with all sorts of news concerning new social networks or rumored advancements to current popular ones. Today, we have the news that Shopkick is officially launching tomorrow in select Best Buy locations and the alert about the Facebook Dislike button that is not real.
Best Buy is looking to kick things into gear with Shopkick by partnering with Best Buy to launch the app in 257 select stores soon. We discussed Shopkick in the past, where its check-in process is completely automatic just by walking in a store and earning “kickbucks” by doing so. These kickbucks can be redeemed for Best Buy credit online or in-store. Seemingly, you only have to give the cashier your mobile number in order to redeem these discounts.
As of now, the program is going live in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose, New York City and Chicago tomorrow with 70 stores in Dallas, Minneapolis and Miami being added by October 1st.
Besides Best Buy, Shopkick is said to have partnerships with Macy’s and several other unknown retailers. The Simon Property Group, which runs and operates shopping malls, will launch with Shopkick installations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago by the end of the month.
The latest Facebook scam has been riding the waves this weekend, with it being designed for those who want a Dislike button on Facebook. Let’s make this clear: Facebook does not have a dislike button as of right now. They may add one in the future, but there is not one currently.
In the scam message, you’ll see “I just got the Dislike button, so now I can dislike all of your dumb posts lol!!” or “Get the official DISLIKE button now” followed by a link allowing you to “get” the add-on yourself. You’ll be taken to a page that asks you to install a Firefox add-on that claims it is the “original Facebook Dislike Button.” However, keep in mind, that Facebook currently has no official dislike button, so just ignore these posts.
