In a move that sparked thoughts of “Why Not?” in my head, Sega has announced that a good-sized lineup of Genesis games is headed to Valve’s Steam platform next month.
On June 1st, you will have access to and purchase Golden Axe, Ecco The Dolphin, Comix Zone, and Vectorman to start off. Sega also hinted at possible releases of Altered Beast, Sonic 3D Blast, Space Harrier, Shadow Dancer, Gain Ground and Crack Down. In the announcement, Sega also implied that more would be on the way if these released prove successful.
Of course, it’s hard to ignore that many of these titles are available elsewhere on many other platforms. The games are currently available on many disc collections, Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, and Wii Virtual Console but the Steam versions will likely cost less at around $3-4 a pop.
