There’s an easy joke to be made whenever news comes out for a game like RollerCoaster Tycoon. For a game as successful and celebrated as the RCT series (over 11 million units sold, according to Atari), you can say any subsequent release is just coasting on the power of the name alone. See? Easy. Then, you read the actual news from TriplePoint client Atari, and you get actually curious about what they’re up to: RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D is what’s happening now, and it’s coming out on the 3DS, with a wealth of features that sound like decent amusements that fit into the game’s theme. See, it’s still easy. I can do this all day.
Besides being the first iteration of the franchise on a handheld platform, RCT3DOMGWTF is doing stuff like “A first-person view for coaster rides” in full 3D, and “Invite your Mii Plaza™ friends to your theme park,” and something called “Coaster Story” which, it turns out, is not about protecting a table from drinks.
