Casual, Frisky Misc, Rhythm

Tuesday saw the debut of a new virtual world for rock music lovers, Rocktropia. Created by Jon Jacobs, the 3D “theme park” world allows players to dress up like rock stars, immerse themselves in rock lore, explore a rock-inspired landscape and listen to live events.

Jacobs believes that 3D worlds will be the next big thing (again) after the social game craze dies down. “Our platform has all of the features of a social network. It has immersive storytelling, and is an entertaining game,” says Jacobs according to GamesBeat. Rocktropia was created with support from rock artists, including Motorhead’s lead singer Lemmy and singer songwriter Kevin Rudolph. The game is similar to other MMOs; you can go on quests and earn points to customize your gear.

Players can join Rocktropia for free. Throughout their game experience, they will be inspired to spend real money on virtual goods. You can check it out here.
