2010 Oscar Race Update: Jeff Bridges leads George Clooney and Morgan Freeman for Best Actor in Public Voting
According to the iPhone’s premier app for Oscar® season, The Red Carpet , recent polling data shows that mega stars like George Clooney and Morgan Freeman are struggling to hold their own against Jeff Bridges, who has never won despite five nominations. The app also states that Precious has a 20% lead over The Hurt Locker, flying in the face of most critics who are predicting the war film will take home Best Picture. Meanwhile, if Kathryn Bigelow secures Best Director, she’ll be the first woman ever to be honored with this award. She’s duking it out with ex-husband James Cameron, and according to The Red Carpet polling data, Cameron is slightly ahead of Bigelow with 46% of votes to her 36%.
Relative unknown Christoph Waltz is beating out big stars like Matt Damon, Stanley Tucci and Woody Harrelson as the surprise favorite for Best Supporting Actor. Another newcomer is making waves on The Red Carpet; Mo’Nique is getting three times the votes for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Precious than much-hyped newcomer Gabourey Sidibe is getting for Best Actress, and trouncing the competition in the Supporting category.
To cast your vote, research all the nominees, and potentially win $1,000,000, pick up The Red Carpet on the App Store. It’s a $2.99 iPhone app chock-full of continuously updated information on the 2010 Oscars, including the latest Hollywood news updates, a full nominee list, movie ratings and reviews, movie previews, and Netflix connectivity to help fans keep track of which Oscar-nominated movies they want to watch.
