Texas power company First Choice Power has launched its first Facebook game, Energía Goleadora. The goal of the game is to teach players ways to save energy around their home by going green.
The game was launched in conjunction with a number of other Hispanic-oriented businesses, like Univisón TV network. First Choice estimates that 40% of its clientele is Hispanic or bilingual, and Energía Goleadora is marketed to those customers. According to Inside Facebook, director of Hispanic marketing Andrés Reyes says, “For us it is very critical to have channels where we are communicating in both English and Spanish to establish a dialogue with this consumer.”
The gameplay of Energía Goleadora is easy to pick up, and the game includes Facebook staples like leaderboards and the ability to invite your friends. The game can be played in both English and Spanish, and the player will navigate through a virtual house learning different ways to save money on the energy bill. Each new discovery earns you points, and the Texas resident with the highest score in the game wins a grand prize: a trip to Miami to see an Univisón awards show.
