It’s been a while since we were able to bring you an installment of “Eye Candy for the Casual Gamer,” but we’re here once again with some news concerning two heavily anticipated titles: Valve’s Portal 2, and Atari’s Haunted House. For Valve 2, we see the release of a new co-op trailer, while Atari has released new screenshots for Haunted House that should get everyone in the mood for the upcoming Halloween holiday (hey, if stores can put out Halloween stuff this early, we can start talking about it too!).
Haunted House Screens Offer A “Then & Now” Perspective
Atari announced the remake to the classic Atari 2600 game Haunted House back in July, but now, they have released a series of screenshots that display just how much the game has changed, as well as what has stayed the same.
For those unfamiliar with the concept of the game, you’ll be stuck inside Graves Mansion, trying to survive and eventually escape from the things that go bump in the dark night. The screenshots obviously display a huge change graphically, as this is based on an Atari 2600 game after all, but there are some clear similarities – the white eyes blinking in the darkness, for one striking example.
The remake of Haunted House will be released on Xbox Live Arcade, the Nintendo Wii and as a PC download game later this year. To confirm, while the game is an arcade title on the Xbox 360, it is a retail version on the Wii, not a WiiWare title. Check out the before and after screenshots below to see what to expect from this new take on the classic game (click to see larger):
Portal 2 Co-Op Trailer Revealed
Perhaps one of the biggest draws to Portal 2 is the inclusion of co-op gameplay, and to give fans a taste of what’s to come from this feature, Valve has released the “Portal 2 Co-Op Trailer.” Lucky for you, we’re here to share it with you.
The trailer shows off some impressive moves, if they are anything like what the final product will contain, and see the ability to send your friend shooting through a never-ending series of portals to gain momentum, only to shoot them through a new portal to the top of a tall structure to press a button, and so on.
Portal has always been about thinking outside of the box, and this newest trailer proves no different. The game won’t be released until next year, but make sure to take a look at the trailer below to get a better feel for what to expect when you and your friends enter the test chamber.
