It was really only a matter of time, wasn’t it? You can’t make games for Facebook and not have a mafia-related game. Those are the rules. So, it’s nice to see Playfish getting their act together and launching Gangster City for Facebook players everywhere.
There’s no question that Gangster City represents Playfish’s entry into one of the most crowded social game genres in existence. Between Mafia Wars, Mobsters, Yakuza, Mob Wars, Organized Crime, and several more, Playfish has their work cut out for them if they want to get onto gamers’ most wanted lists. Still, the title looks like it has a few unique Playfish twists to give it a fighting chance, including voiced cutscenes, and a slightly more intricate family management aspect, with the ability to assign one’s friends to specific mob roles and send them on extra missions.
What do you think? Can casual criminals simply not get enough of these games, or will this latest entry end up sleeping with the Playfishes?
Wow, even I’m ashamed of that one. Check out the new app for yourself, here.
