Playdom is a big name in the social gaming world, having created titles like Tiki Resort and Social City on Facebook, but the developer is set to grow even more now with the announcement that Playdom has acquired Three Melons, a privately held online game developer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Three Melons has worked on over 50 games as a third-party developer, and even has a full game to call their own, called Bola, a soccer application on Facebook.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Playdom,” said Mariano Suarez Battan, CEO of Three Melons, via a company press release. “The company has positioned itself for success in 2010 and we look forward to working as a team to deliver on that goal.”

The Three Melons studio is set to grow over the next year, as Playdom works to complete its “aggressive product calendar” in 2010.

Social city is huge. Now there are more than 11 millions players enjoying the game in less than one month and set to increase in a few month time.
Looking forward for more games from Playdom.

I've been playing Social City myself – pretty good game and looking forward to seeing where Playdom takes it (& what games they have in store next.

However, I think it's a bit of stretch to say that 11 million people are “enjoying” Social City so far, due to the fact that there are still a number of serious server issues. I hope the bugs are gone soon and will happily agree then. Unfortunately our readers regularly complain about the sync issues, server lags and bugs, so I've got to stand up for them til things work right ;)
