Free-to-Play

Playboy Enterprises is looking to expand its reach beyond the obvious and into the world of gaming, with the eventual goal of offering titles suitable to the personalities of men ages 18-35 (Playboy’s current target demographic). To begin with this expansion, they have secured a partnership with German company Bigpoint, which will help create and distribute the games on Playboy.com.

The partnership has already created one game, in the form of the crime MMO game called PoisonVille, which launched out of beta last week, according to paidContent.

To play the game, you’ll need to head over to the game’s official website by clicking on this link. From there, you’ll sign up for an account, and can launch the game. While browser based, meaning that you won’t need to download anything in order to play, the game is a full 3D animated world that pops up in a new window (it appears that Google Chrome is unsupported at this point, while we were able to play the game in Firefox just fine).

To begin, you’ll create your character within the world of PoisonVille, with your character being a full 3D model, which can be customized in terms of basic appearance and loyalty to one of the game’s major clans.

From there, you’ll begin the process of completing quests, gathering items and working your way up through the world. The game can be considered an action-based RPG, in that you’ll earn better weapons as you play the game, along with new cars – all while leveling up, earning money, and becoming an overall stronger character.

You’ll be able to outfit your character with these new items both before, during, and after gameplay proper, via the game’s website. When there, hitting the “Play Now” button launches the game world, but you can manage your inventory and equip your character with all manner of protective gear and weapons before you place yourself in the game.

For more information about PoisonVille, or to try the game for yourself, head over to the game’s official website, and check out the title’s latest trailer below to get an idea of what the game will be like.
