PerBlue, a mobile and social gaming company, announced today a new round of funding per the Golden Angels of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This comes along with additional investment from groups out of Seattle and San Francisco.
“PerBlue has differentiated itself by making deeper and more innovative games than many of our competitors,” PerBlue CEO Justin Beck said. “Our company’s mantra of ‘gameplay first’ mixed with the virtual goods business model made PerBlue a great investment.”
The most significant title that PerBlue has released is Parallel Kingdom, a game that is available for both Android and iPhone. The game uses the device’s GPS signal to place the player in a “parallel virtual world” where they play on a real world map filled with creatures, buildings and resources. All information is brought in from real time, meaning players can easily interact with each other, build buildings and claim territory among other activities.
PerBlue’s Parallel Kingdom is free to download and play, and just recently surpassed 200,000 active player accounts. In the game, you may also purchase additional currency, called Food which allows you to access certain features.
This new round of funding is sure proof of PerBlue’s success and hopefully allows them to continue producing commercially successful titles such as Parallel Kingdom. The company is also said to be developing new games for the iPad, along with two Facebook games in development. It should be interesting to see what these new titles eventually develop into.
If you are interested in trying Parallel Kingdom, be sure to download it from the App Store for free.
