Sometimes the innovator can’t keep up with the successor, which happens to be the case with Palm today. Following the major success of the iPhone and up-and-coming Android, Palm is now for sale looking for the perfect candidate to scoop up the technology they have created and make a new beginning for the WebOS platform.
Apparently, HTC and Dell have shown interest. As current hardware manufacturers, they would benefit mostly from Palm’s WebOS platform which receives a lot of regular praise from both critics and users. I think the move would be huge for HTC as they traditionally only use third party platforms on their phones. If HTC had their own platform, would they drop that third party support such as Android or Windows Phone? I think that would be the most interesting part of the acquisition.
