Facebook, Social

While OMGPOP may be best known for its own casual gaming / social interaction website of the same name, they also develop Facebook games of their own, with their latest release coming in the form of Cupcake Corner.

The game can be most easily described as a combination of Cafe World and Restaurant City. You’ll be able to cook sweet dishes like Cupcakes, Cookies, and Doughnuts by clicking on stoves and choosing recipes from a menu, just like in Cafe World, but your employees must be stationed at one particular stove (or attached grouping of stoves), serving counter or cash register in order to function, just like in Restaurant City.

Various sweets take different amounts of time to cook, and cost different amounts of coins to bake in the first place. You’ll only be able to serve as many items as you have counters to hold them, limiting your growth at the beginning of the game. As guests walk into the restaurant, they will head to the serving counters themselves, where your staff (either temporary staff or your friends that you hire) will give them a serving of the food of their choice. After that, they’ll head to the register to pay for their food before heading to a table to actually eat it. In this way, you don’t need waiters.

As you play the game, you’ll earn experience points, causing you level up and unlock new recipes, along with new cafe decorations. You’ll be able to update all portions of your shop, including architectural details like windows, right down to the very tile below your feet. You can also customize the look of your avatar by purchasing clothing items for them, as well as choosing from a wide variety of hairstyles and colors, eye colors, facial hair features, and so on.

Another customization feature comes with the ability to customize the look of your products, in terms of icing color, filling color of pies, and so on. You’ll be able to choose from a basic set of free colors, which will be added to your custom product before it is served, or you can spend one Cupcake Cash to be able to choose a custom color.

Social features come in the form of free gifts that can be sent to friends (most of which are food bundles capable of serving 50 guests), and the ability to visit your friends shops and leave them tips, while earning some coins for yourself in the process.

Cupcake Corner has already been “liked” by 23,000 people on Facebook. To see what they like about the game for yourself, make sure to head over to Cupcake Corner on Facebook. Before you go, check out our Frisky Hands-On video of the game below to see what the game looks like in action.
