Nyko Announces Type Pad Pro for Wii

Thu, Jun 10, 2010

Accessory maker Nyko has announced a new accessory called the Type Pad Pro for Wii. The new product is available today on Amazon.com and features a full QWERTY keypad for online chat, online navigation and Wii Shop Channel browsing. Along with the typing functionality, the Pad connects to a standard Wii Remote to allow for easy browsing.

The main functionality for the Type Pad will be in the Opera Browser, Animal Crossing City Folk, and for Wii friend messaging. The Type Pad also features Nyko Trans-Port Technology that is described as allowing “the A and B buttons to be accessed directly from the device’s two trigger buttons when used with the Nyko Wand. Convenient A and B button access on the back of the Type Pad Pro allows for smoother and easier scrolling, zooming and clicking while browsing the web, enabling user-friendly web navigation.”

“Text input on the Wii has been limited to the on-screen keyboard or large, clunky hardware,” said Chris Arbogast, director of marketing at Nyko Technologies. “We are excited to see the Type Pad Pro release and provide a convenient all-in-one solution to type, navigate and control your Wii experience.”

The new device costs just $29.99 and can be purchased right now on Amazon.com.
