Are you tired of serving impatient customers in a restaurant or tending to needy animals in a zoo? Feeling overwhelmed by the farming games or the responsibilities that come with building your own city? The developers of Nightclub City are hoping your answers to the above questions are “yes,” as they have created a unique new offering (at least where Facebook games are concerned) that sees you building and expanding your very own nightclub.
Via the game’s fan page, the game is described as allowing you to: “Open your own hot spot in Nightclub City! Customize your nightclub with an assortment of decorative items, invite the hottest celebrities to boost your nightclub’s popularity, and kick the jerks to the curb with your bouncer!”
While Nightclub City allows you to micro-manage your business just as you would any similar Facebook game (Restaurant City, Cafe World and so on), the money-making side of the game is far more complex. However, before you can make money, you’ll need to open your club. You start with a small, practically empty room, with little more than yourself as the DJ. You’ll select the kind of music you want to play, and will let the game run its course.
AI controlled patrons will enter, and will pay a cover charge to do so. They’ll buy drinks at the bar, giving you even more money, and will tip for great service (again, even more money). Like in some complex tycoon titles, you can click on each individual patrons to learn their likes and dislikes, their tip rate, happiness level and so on. According to Inside Social Games, all of these stats can be affected in a positive way by increasing the popularity of your club, along with enhancing its design.
Like in similar games, you’ll need employees, like a bartender and bouncer, and you’ll “hire” your Facebook friends to work for you – they don’t actually have to play the game. The bouncer is an especially interesting addition, in that sometimes your guests will become a bit… belligerent (they are at a bar after all) and will get into fights. With the bouncer, you can manually remove these unruly patrons from the bar.
Of course, as with any simulation game, you can decorate your club with a slew of items and purchase upgraded items like better DJ booths or bars. The bars will allow you to increase the price of drinks, while upgraded DJ booths let you “spin” for longer periods of time.
Speaking of spinning, the music is comprised of remixed versions of real songs, that anyone who listens to the radio will likely recognize (as an example, within the span of perhaps two minutes, I heard a remixed conglomeration containing the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Beyonce, and more).
We play a lot of games here at Frisky Mongoose, and this is definitely one of the more in-depth titles we’ve seen. If it sounds interesting to you, head over to the game’s page on Facebook.
