FarmVille, Social

The latest FarmVille Podcast announced that a new system of neighbor visits would be coming to FarmVille in the future, with the future apparently meaning right now, as they have quickly pushed out this update, allowing you to earn more coins and experience points than you normally would when visiting friends. In addition to this, last night’s update contained the release of some more items in the new Wild West theme.

Help Your Neighbors in New Ways on Their Farms

Similar to the way neighbor visits work in the increasingly popular Zynga game FrontierVille, you can now participate in new tasks when visiting your neighbors in FarmVille.

While you can still choose to simply fertilize your neighbors’ crops, you can now also harvest from their trees, harvest their animals or plow their fallow land. Whenever you visit a neighbor, you’ll see a new icon in the top left corner of the screen with a small 5 hovering above it. This means that you can participate in a total of five of any of the activities I just listed.

You can spend all five harvesting trees, or all five fertilizing crops, as examples, or you can spend one of your task allowance harvesting from a neighbor’s pretty peacock, and spend the other four on chickens – it’s a customizable experience that’s up to you to decide.

To make things perfectly clear, there has been some confusion over whether or not you can harvest your neighbors’ crops – you may not do so. The only things you can do with crops are fertilize crops that have already been planted, or plow the fallow, light tan land that has yet to be plow or seeded.

When your neighbor logs back into their farms, they’ll see up to four avatars placed around the landscape, and can either accept or deny that friends’ help. If you’d rather do everything yourself, simply deny everyone you see. However, if you’d like to accept the friends’ help, you can do that as well, and you will receive the same amount of coins and/or experience points from these tasks as if you had completed them yourself.

As usual, this is a feature that is being rolled out slowly to all users over time, so if you don’t see the new options when visiting neighbors today, be patient, as you will soon.

What do you think of this new feature?

New Wild West Items Include Animals, Buildings and Decorations

As the other items in the Wild West theme now have just a week left in their life cycle in the FarmVille marketplace, Zynga has kept the theme going by introducing a new animal, new buildings and new decorations for our shopping pleasure.

The animal is the Cottontail Rabbit, which costs 12 Farm Cash. It can be harvested from every 2 days, and remember, as a Farm Cash item, it can either be kept for use on your own farm, or sent to a friend as a gift.

The buildings are the Wild West Hotel, and the Wild West Home. The Wild West Hotel costs 42 Farm Cash to add to your farm, while the Wild West Home is a whopping 380,000 coins. As has become the norm with these large coin purchases, you’ll receive a large amount of experience points in return for your splurge, at 3800.

Finally, for new decorations, you can choose from four additional items. The Red Tailed Hawk and the Iron Wood Tree are Farm Cash items, costing 18 and 4 Farm Cash, respectively, while a new Stagecoach and Wagon Bench cost coins, at a price of 200,000 for the Stagecoach, and 80,000 for the Wagon Bench.

This newest set of items in the Wild West theme will be available in stores for the next 9 days. Be sure to head over to the game’s page to purchase any that interest you while they are still available.
