MyTown has quickly become one of the top location-based iPhone apps/games available for the platform, and the app’s developer, Booyah, isn’t looking to slow that growth down anytime soon. In fact, as reported by Inside Social Games, Booyah has expanded its reach by partnering with the Travel Channel to provide themed items for the network’s new show Food Wars within the MyTown app.
The two pieces go hand-in-hand. In MyTown, users work to buy and upgrade their properties while competing with friends, and in Food Wars, similar restaurants compete against one another for menu supremacy. Both entities have a basis of competition, with the potential for Food Wars exposure being a great one, as users, in theory, will work to claim, upgrade, and “rent out” the establishments seen in the show, from within the game.
MyTown seems to be becoming more comfortable with such cross-promotional outings, as they also recently partnered with H&M to provide a line of virtual clothing within the app for users who checked-in at stores. We’ll be sure to bring you further news of such partnerships if and when they happen.
