Mystery Gifts & New Farm Tech – Time For FrontierVille Updates!

Frontierville, Social

A couple of interesting updates have launched in FrontierVille since we last spoke. The first is the addition of a new “Mystery Gift” icon to your friends bar, and the other being the addition of a new theme of items centered around advances in Homestead technology.

Catch Hay Fever With New Decorative Items

There are two pages worth of new decorative items available to purchase in the game, all under the theme entitled “Hay Fever.” While only two items actually have anything to do with hay specifically (those being the Hay Cart and the Empty Hay Cart), the rest of the items fit into a world of advancing Homestead technologies, including a lawn mower, rake, seed drill and so on.

Most of the items in this new release are limited edition, meaning that they will only be available to purchase for a short amount of time before being removed from the store – in this case, the items will expire in around three days (from the time of this writing).

There are Poopcarts of various colors, a Bear Cart or empty Pull Cart, four colors of Buggies, and the aforementioned Mower, Farm Rake and Seed Drill. Some of the items, like the Hay Cart and Mower, are premium items costing Horseshoes (in these particular examples, 16 and 25 Horseshoes, respectively), while others can be purchased for a combination of coins and wood, ranging from 2000 coins and 5 wood for the Farm Rake to 15000 coins and 16 wood for the Empty Hay Cart.

Aside from these items, two of the buggies are neighbor dependent, so be sure to confirm all of your incoming neighbor requests to see if you can unlock access to them.

What’s Inside the FrontierVille Mystery Gift?

In in most other Zynga games (FarmVille and PetVille as two examples), FrontierVille has jumped onto the proverbial bandwagon by adding a Mystery Gift to the system.

This Mystery Gift can be accessed (that is, sent to your FrontierVille neighbors) by clicking on the icon that now rests in the neighbor bar. Clicking on this will allow you to send out a friend request to the neighbors of your choosing, just as you would send any other free gift in the game.

Take note of the Mystery Gift’s location, as it is unable (as of this writing) to send to friends via the game’s free gifts page – you have to click on the link in the neighbor bar, or not at all. Head over to the game’s page on Facebook to start sending these Mystery Gifts to your friends – with a little luck, perhaps they’ll send one back to you!

The mystery gifts are not working FYI. We can send them but they do not appear in your inventory and there is no way to get them. Wish they would have worked this out before launch…boo hiss!

its fun that they ve added mystery gifts, but, where are they when you accept them? All of my neighbors share the same complaint.

Actually, the Mystery Gifts DO work. :-) I received two this morning – A hammer and a hand drill – you'll need to look for a present box icon along the left hand side of the gameplay area (where the Mission logos are) and click on that. It will flash a word bar saying something along the lines of “You've got Mystery Gifts.” Click on it and your gifts will automatically be opened, just like when you click on the regular “You've got Gifts” notification that shows you a list of items plus who sent them.

Not as convenient as sending them directly to our inventory, I will admit. But they ARE there. :-)
