A double dose of undead defense news sprouted up today from PopCap Games — their iconic lawn-defense title, Plants vs. Zombies, is coming back in two distinct forms. For starters, the game’s going social, coming soon to Facebook as Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, promising that the game is “expanding with endless waves of new characters, strategies, territories, and community challenges.” PvZ Adventures has a Facebook page up now, and if you ‘Like’ it, that gives you a chance to play the beta, which is certainly something I would like.
According to a preview on Inside Social Games, the Facebook title is going to add build-em-up aspects, an isometric perspective, and social features like visiting friends’ lawns and unleashing zombies upon them. Micropayments are certainly going to be part of the equation as well, giving players more chances to unleash mayhem in a given day.
What’s more, a full standalone sequel has also been announced, entitled simply Plants vs. Zombies 2, which is due out some time this summer. Details are scarce on that particular title, but if it doesn’t involve an awesome song at the end, then someone has clearly eaten PopCap’s brains.
More to come on both games in the future!
