Casual, Handheld

Dreamrift, the studio formed by Henry Hatsworth creators Peter Ong, designer, and Ryan Pijai, programmer, is working on a new DS title called Monster Tale. According to Joystiq, the new title will merge platforming and pet simulation genres.

It appears that the top screen will be where the majority of the platforming action takes place; protagonist Ellie will be fighting her way through Monster World with the goal of liberating the monsters from the “Kid Kings.” As the player maneuvers Ellie through the levels, they will acquire items which will be sent to the bottom of the screen, the home of a monster named Chomp. The items will have different effects on Chomp, boosting his abilities or transforming him into one of 30 different forms. Ellie can summon Chomp to the top screen to protect her from enemies.

The title is slated to be released this December (in time for the holidays!) by publisher Majesco.
