Mochi Media has announced plans to not only fund game development but has also launched a new social gaming platform to help broadcast those games. The effort hopes to spark creativity in some of those small, independent developers across the world and bring their ideas to light.
Their new social platform is simply titled Mochi Social and gives developers a chance to integrate social features into their games which include inviting friends, gift sending and posting to an updating stream involving game achievements and other details. The Mochi Social platform also allows the developers to update with news about the game and updates about friends or new challenges that are available. The idea is to create a more integrated experience than what is currently available through Facebook or other social sites.
The first Mochi Social game is called Kingdoms of War and will be releasing next week. The game from Thinking Ape will showcase the different features and integrations surrounding Mochi Social.
The effort for funding game development surrounds $10 million dollars to help Flash and social game developers by providing sponsorship, licensing and publishing deals. This move sounds like it will help small-time developers garner further development support and get their creations published.
