MiFi Tethering Now on Verizon Palm Pre/Pixi Plus

Mobile

Verizon dropped a nice little bomb for those Palm users last week in that they are now allowing the current Palm devices to tether with computers and other devices via 3G. The statement from Palm reads:

For Verizon Wireless customers, the free Palm mobile hotspot app now comes with free service. The first 5 GB of data each month now comes at no extra cost. The app lets your Palm Pre Plus or Palm Pixi Plus share your 3G bandwidth with up to 5 other Wi-Fi devices.

The most interesting part about this statement is that it’s free. Most carriers in the US charge upwards of $60/month for the same services. This is very good news for Palm owners but I am holding out for an Android high-five of something similar.

This a fantastic deal! Not only can I use my Palm Pre to tether for presentations off my laptop at work, but I can cancel my home internet as my Pre can now be used for all my computers at home! I absolutely love this phone, getting the mobile hot spot for free on top of that is just icing on the cake!

Yea, it's a GREAT option! (you shouldn't cancel your home internet though.. you're limited to 5G of tethering usage I believe).

For light internet and email though it may not be too bad.
