As reported by Gamasutra, 3D sensing and technology company PrimeSense has been revealed as a tech partner for Microsoft’s Project Natal.

“PrimeSense has delivered an important component to the technology, helping us deliver revolutionary controller-free entertainment experiences in the living room,” says Ilan Spillinger, Microsoft VP of Xbox 360 hardware.

PrimeSense had worked on sensing and recognition technology on multiple consumer electronics and home computing systems in the past. The company’s CEO has this to say about the opportunity presented to the PrimeSense:

“The engagement with Xbox 360 establishes PrimeSense’s position as a leading supplier of 3D-sensing technology. We are especially honored to have a partner like Microsoft who shares our vision for bringing innovative and engaging natural experiences to consumers.”

Microsoft is planning to have Project Natal ready for release sometime this holiday season.
