Mobile, Social

At the Microsoft press event today on a webcast today, Microsoft is expected to announce the Project Pink phones, a project Microsoft has been working on for quite some time.

The slogan for the webcast is “We’re For Sharing” which does just about confirm the new line of phones as reality. The Project Pink phones have always been rumored as being tailored specifically for the purpose of social networking and if announced, appear to be going in the exact direction.

Two of the phones expected to be announced have been leaked with one being dubbed the “Turtle” and the other the “Pure.” Whether these names and models will still stand is unknown but the phones will most likely run on the Verizon network.

This approach to the mobile market is not seen by Microsoft as they are usually only focused on the software side of the market. Will Microsoft be able to compete with other smartphones by having these competitively priced? We’ll find out later today I’m sure.
