Meebo, the excellent multi-IM client that’s available for free on their own web site and on several mobile devices has turned five and is celebrating this milestone in a few interesting ways.

First, the Meebo Bar which can add chat and other functionality to any web page it sits on has received a few new features such as highlight-to-share functionality that allows you to share text from the page even easier and new butons that allow for dragging and dropping (and therefore sharing) of images or articles from the page.

Along with this new change, Meebo has announced the release of a new Blackberry App that works a lot like the Android and iPhone versions that have already been out. These apps add functionality that gives access to your multiple IM accounts. Seamless transitioning between the desktop and mobile functionality has been one of Meebo’s goals, and this new app for Blackberry seems to be no exception. It can be found on the Blackberry App Store for free.

Lastly, Meebo.com has received a bit of a facelift in that it puts emphasis on the many features that Meebo offers, along with its mobile services. Most of all, it’s cleaner as well.

Meebo has been around for five years, and with these improvements and constant updates, it seems it will likely stick around for at least another five or so. I use the iPhone app every day, and it seems to be one of the most robust and easy apps for instant messaging that can be found anywhere.
