Marvel Quietly Pushing Free Comics Through iPad App

iPad, Mobile

Marvel’s comic-viewing iPad application is one of the early crown jewels of the flashy tablet device. As MediaBistro reports, early on in the application’s life the company released a couple of free comics to allow for a small “taste” to consumers of what they can expect.

Apparently, much like Apple’s free song of the day, Marvel too has been releasing groups of free comics throughout a number of weeks to continue to offer new and old application users to try and grab their hooks into them.

I really like this approach by Marvel. It allows for cheapskates like me to grab the free comics and enjoy them in all their free glory, but also provides and opportunity to Marvel to get me hooked on a specific series and start shelling out cash to complete the set.
