Magic Gathers Up a Bunch of Platforms

I just wanted to tap you on the shoulder and remind you that today, you can tap your lands by actually tapping them: Magic: The Gathering 2014 from Wizards of the Coast is out this week for pretty much every conceivable platform, including a couple with a touch-screen interface. Specifically, the mobile versions — both iOS and Android — are out today, and they’re both free to download, with a mess of content including multiplayer duels available via in-app purchase. Tomorrow, the PC, PS3, and 360 versions will be added to the deck, each costing the platform’s equivalent of $10.

If you’ve never played MtG in any of its physical or digital forms, it’s well worth a free mobile download to familiarize yourself with the game’s procedures. If nothing else, you can stop being that one guy in the game store who always, always hovers near the table, and goes “Magic, huh? You know, I never got into Magic.” Because now, you can get into Magic, for free, in a simple interface. I take no responsibility, though, if the edge of your tablet gets slightly bent and you have to get a plastic sleeve for it.
