LG has announced their first Android smartphone, the ‘Ally’ in a rather unorthodox way. Most companies announce their phones in a conference sort of way with plenty of press on hand and cameras at every square-inch.
LG took a different approach with this announcement instead touting its tie-in with the Iron Man 2 movie set for release this Friday. The phone even has its own web site dedicated to the movie connection. The LG Ally releases May 20th, and will come with a special edition Iron Man 2 comic book upon launch.
The features of the Ally include a QWERTY keyboard, an Iron Man 2 augmented reality app and a full touch screen. The detailed specifications have yet to be released, but there is rumor the processor will run at a full 1 Ghz.
Looking at pictures of the Ally, I can determine it at least runs the latest version of Android, 2.1 which is a good indicator that the phone will have some decent specs under the hood.
