In an official FarmVille podcast released in the middle of May, we were told that a new “Edit” or “Redecoration” mode was coming to the massively popular farming simulator sometime in the future. We haven’t had to wait long for such a thing to come to fruition, as late last night the FarmVille team updated the game to include both.
For starters, the menu area, located in the bottom right corner of the gameplay screen, has been updated. Under the “Plow Tool” menu, you’ll now find quick links to access your Tractor, Seeder and Harvester (where applicable), leaving the “Multi Tool” menu – the arrow – to hold two new icons: a Move Tool and a Recycle Tool.
First, let’s see what the Move Tool does. As you select it, you’ll be notified that when it is active, you’ll be able to click on an item to instantly pick it up, and can drop it in a new valid location (I say valid because you still won’t be able to stack things on top of one another or overlap, etc.). If you’d like to rotate the item, you can hit your space bar to do so, given that the item is rotatable by default (as we’ve come to learn, not all items are).
While you are still more than welcome to click on a single item and select “move” from the drop-down menu that appears, if you’re in the mood for some serious redecorating on your farm, this will be a quick and easy way to accomplish said task. What’s more – you can even move farming plots with this new tool. Instead of having to delete all of the plots, and re-plow in a new location, you can use the move tool to move them, including those that are currently growing a crop.
As a note, we’ve noticed that when using this feature of moving farm plots, if you choose to replace the plot in the same location that it came from, you may notice a slight disconnect, as if the plot looks to be “floating” above those surrounding it. Luckily, a simple refresh of the game cleared this up all around.
Next, we’ll move onto the Recycle Tool, which is a bit more complicated. If you’re looking to clear your farm of clutter, the Recycle Tool will allow you to quickly delete items that have no sale value (that is, if you attempt to “sell” them, you’ll receive 0 coins), and sell items that have a value.
Once active, hovering over an item will show you its sale value, as seen with the Hay Bales below, which we know sell for 5 coins each.
Once you actually click on the item, a window will appear asking for confirmation that you would indeed like to sell the item. It’s here that you can make a couple of other decisions to help speed up the process, should you be looking to delete items in bulk.
First, you’ll be able to turn on Quick Delete, a mode that will allow you to delete items without going through the confirmation window, so long as the item is not a limited edition item or worth more than a thousand coins. To be clear, limited edition items would still ask for a confirmation, as the game doesn’t want you to delete an irreplaceable item by accident, and any item that is worth more than 1,000 coins, even if not limited edition (say, the Pink or Black Cottages many of us have received from Golden Mystery Eggs, which are worth 3,000 coins) will also ask for confirmation.
Conversely, should you really know what you’re doing, you can also turn on the “don’t warn me about selling or deleting decorations until I switch tools” tweak, which will make removing items in bulk that much faster.
So there you have it – two new tools that will hopefully make your life easier while farming, especially when deciding to redecorate for a new holiday or limited edition item theme. If you’d like to take these two new tools for a spin, head over to the game’s page to do so.
Happy farming!
