We at Frisky Mongoose consider ourselves old-school members of the Kongregation. It’s always great to find a new casual game we can waste our day with, and that’s where Kongregate shines — so, when those titles start crossing over into the mobile space (one of our very favorite spaces!), we’re ready, willing, and extremely excited to play them. Earlier this year, Kongregate announced a $10 million fund for the development and publishing of mobile games, where the Kong kings would offer marketing, distribution, and support for hungry young developers. Now, the five hungriest have been announced as Kongregate’s mobile launch titles: Tyrant: Unleashed from Synapse Games, BloodRealm from co-developers RedPoint Labs and Making Fun, Sheep Happens from Lingplay, Endless Boss Fight from White Milk Games, and Cardinal Quest 2 from Randomnine Ltd.
From the press release:
Kongregate is focusing its publishing efforts primarily on mid- and hard-core titles by drawing heavily on its successful history of monetizing similar games online. “Our past experience is invaluable and allows us to generate recommendations based on detailed analysis of similar titles,” said Pany Haritatos, VP of Mobile for Kongregate. “Kongregate works with developers of all game genres from CCG to MMO and RPG titles. We have micro level insights into successful game mechanics that can make a huge difference in monetization and retention. Applying that level of expertise to a mobile launch is essential to launching a successful game.”
The first game, Tyrant: Unleashed, is slated to launch this month. I hope that when it is unleashed upon me that I do not become too overbearing in my insistence that you try it, since it will be free-to-play.
