The boys and girls at Apple were very, very good last year, and Santa responded in kind, rewarding the company with 8.74 million sold iPhones during the 2009 holidays. Those figures, from Apple’s reported financials (as reported by IndustryGamers), were more than double the reported sales during the 2008 holiday season.
This is great news for both Apple and for the developers who are capitalizing on the mobile device’s popularity — with two games now crossing the 2 million mark in sales, Apple has plenty to crow about. CEO Steve Jobs is claiming that Apple is now “a $50+ billion company.”
Enthusiasm remains incredibly high about Apple’s next gadget — the rumored iSlate — which is scheduled to be unveiled tomorrow.
