With so many games being released on the iTunes app store, it’s sometimes hard to keep up with which ones you should or shouldn’t be playing on your iPhone. Thankfully, we have the review round-up to show you the best games available on the app store, complete with summaries and reviews from all around the web.
Just like the console hit God of War, Hero of Sparta II has you fighting as a spartan against mythological creatures of all kinds and colossal bosses looking to wreck your very existence. Since there is no official God of War game for the iPhone (and likely never will be), this is as close as you’re going to get.
Slidetoplay reviewed the game and said that the game is a “marvel” when compared to other action games on the iPhone and that “This ambitious title makes great use of the iDevice hardware, and will keep you playing happily until the end.” Rating: 4 out of 4. Price: $6.99.
Being a console title from 2004, Warrior Within is nothing more than a port of this original version. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing because you literally have a PS2 game in the palm of your hand with Warrior Within. Controls can be a bit bothersome as it uses an on-screen d-pad and buttons in order to control the prince.
TheAppEra reviewed it and said that this game “is as close as you’re going to get to Tomb Raider on your iPhone” and that “it’s nice to see a console game get ported to the iPhone.”
You play as a member of a group of civilians trapped deep underground, with no metric to determine exactly how far down they are. To figure out just how deep down they are, they send out a robot to determine this task equipped with a gravity hook to help him climb. The idea is to climb as far as possible without falling to your doom.
In GameZebo‘s review, they said that the game has an “incredible level of challenge” but fans of the previous game Canabalt will “no doubt fall in love with the upward struggle found in Gravity Hook HD.
