iPhone, Mobile

So, the base price for an iPhone 4 16GB is $199 + tax, and that doesn’t include the monthly bill or any upfront deposits you could possibly have to make. Well, the people at iSuppli who took apart the iPhone 4 and its parts in order to value how much the phone should actually cost to make. The answer: $188.

The breakdown of the key specifications is as follows:

  • Retina Display – $28.50
  • A4 Processor – $10.75
  • Gyroscope – $2.60

As TheAppEra points out, this cost does not include marketing, labor, operating system costs and the cut of each company involved. So, while the parts may only cost $180, there are certainly other costs involved that drive that cost even higher.
